Identification requirements for exam day

Test Delivery Provider: Requirements for valid ID:

Candidate identification requirements are set by the test delivery provider. As a result, we strongly encourage candidates to double-check with the test provider they schedule their exams with to ensure they have the proper and required identification for the day of their exams. Please check with the local testing centers as they are more familiar with the regional ID and/or the IDs used for exam check-in.

Pearson VUE Admission policy:

“We ask that you arrive at the test center 30 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. This will give you adequate time to complete the necessary sign-in procedures. Please be to show two (2) valid forms of personal ID (no photo copies or digital IDs). Both must have your signature, and one must be a government issued picture ID. Your name on the ID much match exactly the name we have on file. If you need to update your name and address, please visit the F5-CMS (certification.f5.com) and click on “Update Personal Information” in the left nav. Updates made there will transfer to the Pearson VUE website within 24-48 hours. If you arrive more than 15 minutes late for your appointment, you may be refused admission and exam fees may be forfeited.”

The signature requirement is intended as a security measure: the signature of the person signing in for the exam is compared to the identification they bring. Some government issued IDs don’t have a signature, so the 2^nd piece of “ID” can be a signed credit card, library card, etc. 

PLEASE NOTE: Your name must match your ID; however, this only applies to your first (given) name and last (family) name.  This is why we do not have additional fields for "middle" names, suffixes, etc.  The common issues with names are:

1.  Using nicknames or "shortened"  names in place of formal names: "Bob" instead of "Robert"; "Bill" instead of "William", "Pat" instead of "Patricia" or "Patrick", etc.;
2. Using adopted names, instead of formal names: like using the western name "John" rather than true given name listed on identification; or,
3. Transposing first and last names due to cultural differences in those terms: "First" name refers to your "given" name (which is listed first in many Western countries) and "Last" name refers to your "family" name (which is listed last in many Western countries). 

As long as your first (given) name and last (family) name match your id, you should not have any problems taking your exam.  If you do experience difficulty, please be sure to open an incident at the testing center and email us with the incident number and details.
